To prevent fire and serious injury:

Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before burning. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping or flaring. 

Drafts, vents, and air currents cause rapid or uneven burning and sooting. 

Always place candle on heat resistant surface. 

Use long matches or a long-reach lighter.  

Keep hair and loose clothing away from the flame. 

Never burn longer than 4-hour. 

Allow wax to liquify to edges of candle with every burn to prevent tunneling. 

Never leave a candle unattended. 

Never burn a candle on or near anything flammable.  

Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.  

Never touch or move a candle while it is burning or the wax is liquefied. 

Stop burning candle when wick is 1/2 inch. 

Place burning candles at least three inches apart from one another.  

Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for unwanted drafts before re-lighting. 

Never use a candle as a night light, while you sleep, or to look for things in a closet. 

Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle.  

Never use water to extinguish a candle. 

Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving the room. 

Using a knife or sharp object to remove wax drippings might scratch, weaken, or cause the glass to break upon later use.
